I love the Zenbivy. I’ve always been a bag sleeper (traditional camping). Mainly because up until I started backpacking, I never thought there were any other options. By the time I learned about quilts, I had already bought my 1st backpacking sleeping bag, and I knew nothing. I went on Amazon and found the cheapest (that does not mean low quality), lightest, the highest-rated mummy bag I could find; the Teton Sports Trailhead Sleeping Bag. I knew nothing about fill (down vs. synthetic), temperature, and R-Ratings. That was five years ago. Since then, I have tried two other bags: the Big Agnes Encampment 15, and the REI Magma 30.
I loved the REI Magma, so did my wife. It was so lightweight and easy to pack. The problem was that it was so constricting. It would have been perfect if I was just a back sleeper. It just wasn’t right for me. I wanted to be able to sleep on the trail just like I would at home. Then I found the Zenbivy, the perfect system for me.
The Zenbivy Bed revolutionizes backcountry sleep (why it’s better). The unique sheet and quilt combo will allow you to sleep as comfortably as you do in your bed at home, anywhere, even on the side of a mountain. You can relax in any position you want, your side, stomach, or your back without the constriction of a traditional sleeping bag (but you can still cinch yourself in like a mummy if you like).
So far I have used the Zenbivy sleep system on 12 trips. It’s warm, versatile and very comfortable. It’s so lightweight and compresses down to the size of a Nalgene Bottle. The 25º allows me flexibility across multiple seasons. If I need to raise my warmth game, I can simply add a liner. Here are some of my favorite features:
Conclusion
Look, the Zenbivy is excellent, on its own as a quilt or as a complete sleep system. This article isn’t sponsored, and I have no affiliate relationship with the company. I just believe in the product so much, and it has impacted my backcountry comfort so much that I had to make it my first review. But don’t just take my word for it. There are tons of other more intelligent and more experienced people than me that feel the same way. You can read what they have to say here.
Nothing to see here. All good!
